...he announced on Twitter.

And sadly, I don't mean Julius.

Best wishes for an enjoyable, healthy retirement, Walter. And thanks for the memories!

Frankly, I think the move is good for the team. It leaves no uncertainty that we need to rebuild the line. Even if Big Walt had come back, he's past his prime and would have few years left.

Of course, Walt past his prime is better than most players in their prime. If his health were guaranteed, it'd be great to have him back. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees.

This fall a new era begins...

Agreed. This solidifies the point that we need his replacement immediately.

Not that Walt can be replaced, of course.

We'll see you in the Ring of Honor, Walt, and I don't imagine it'll be long before you're raising the 12th Man flag.

Thanks for the years Walt. It was a pleasure watching you play your career for my favorite team.

Fare thee well to the greatest left tackle to play the game.

It is a good thing, time to move on. The Seahawks have so much work to do to rebuild and him hanging around doesn't help the process. Good luck Big Walt and enjoy your new life...Cheers

I once saw Walter Jones beat a man with a palm strike and arm shove. The dude did a full on barrell roll and it looked like good ol' Jonesy wasn't even trying to block him.

Of course, the one clip I think should immortalize the man is his complete ownage of Julius Peppers in the NFC championship game. A 13 yard run by Alexander was overshadowed by the fact that Walter road Peppers for 25+ yards and then landed ontop of him in the endzone after having him hooked under the armpit and running him all that way. It was damned epic and one of my favorite Tivo'd moments.
