Good riddance. He was a talented athlete, but I was tired of him here. He helped us through some hard times, made some nice plays .. but now holmy has him again!

*just read his pick may be tied to performance, well I wish him good things then. Blow them away Seneca!

This is a great trade for everybody. Seneca lost his nerve last year, and I've never been all that sure about his motivation. Hey, it's got to be tough to be a backup QB and stay pumped. After Carroll and Schneider looked at his 2009 tape, there's no way they would give Seneca the ball.

It's good for Seneca, because Holmgren believes in him, will advocate for him and will trust him. It's good for Holmgren because he has somebody on the inside whom he knows and trusts.

So... can Teel step up? Do we get another backup? Do we draft Matt's successor? One thing for sure, we have a hole in our QB lineup. Then again, I felt that we had a hole there before Wallace was traded. Wink

...and regarding the QB position. All the press is on the guys at the top of the draft list and, of course, Tebow. Personally, I like the idea of the Seahawks taking Dan Lefevour, possibly in the second round. Who cares that he played for a small school. The guy has a great arm with great accuracy and excellent instincts.

I totally agree!! This guy blew me away in the bowl game I watched. He has some of that "it" factor too.

Kind of disappointed, simply because that leaves us absolutely ZERO Matt Hasselbeck insurance. Seneca took some heat, but that's because everyone wanted him to be Matt Cassel. Well, Matt Cassel played for the Pats, and Seneca played for what was often a beat up OL and zero talented WRs. I'm not making excuses for him, I'm just saying he's far better than Mike Teel, and unless we somehow land McCoy or Bradford, he's better than anyone else we're getting in this year's draft. What is unfortunate, is I have a feeling that Pete likes Jimmy Clausen, and that feeling is getting stronger with every week that goes by.

I thought Teel looked solid in the preseason. We didn't see enough of him to know how much potential he really has though. Hell, the whole team looked solid in the preseason, and look how things ended up.

Anybody in the league can run out of bounds five yards behind the line of scrimmage. They just won't look as athletic doing it as Seneca.

As the years past I lost more and more confidence in SW. The 1st time Matt got hurt I think he played like 6 games and went like 3-3. Last year I don't think he was capable of winning peroid. He was awful. I understand the line sucked, but I can remember so many plays where he had plenty of oppertunity top throw the ball away aand he didn't. I do wish him the best in Cleveland. Hey at least he can say he made it to a Super Bowl.

I agree. The wheels really came off last year.

And, yes, the line was bad. But Seneca didn't adjust with faster passes and ditching the ball. He adjusted by running away.

They say a great football player has great instincts. That wasn't the case for Seneca last year.

Derek Anderson is now available on the free agent market. I think signing him would make perfect sense for the Hawks. We are desperate for a backup QB and I really don't want to spend a first rounder on Clausen. Matt couldn't stay off his back and on the field the last two years and Mike Teel ain't going to cut it.

Sign anyone that's cheap. Nothing matters until the line is fixed, which won't happen until midseason at the earliest.

I agree, Dave. Unless Carroll and company believe that this year rocks and next year stinks for QBs, they should show some patience. An experienced QB who is seen to be past his prime (cheap) would be the way to go until we get the foundation set.

Heck, get Matt's shoulder and ribs healthy, get him an o-line and a receiver or two, and he's still capable of playing a great game. As long as his arm isn't as dead as it looked last year, he might have more seasons left in the tank than people give him credit for.

Putting off a starting QB delays our rebuilding, though. I have no faith left in Matt's ability to stay healthy and be patient in the pocket, but I like him as a mentor, starting above our future QB. Anderson is not our future QB. Trust me, I've seen him play quite a bit out here in Ohio. We need to figure out who our franchise QB will be, and let him work a couple of years under someone else. Otherwise, any fixes we make to the offensive line will likely be torn apart by injury and free agency by the time the kid is ready to go.

I was referring to cheaply replacing Seneca as the #2.

Yes, I agree, this draft is where they have to find their starting QB. I don't see a reason to draft a RB at all; the line won't be repaired and a rookie RB contributes a lot more than a rookie QB, so I hope they wait until the line has gelled and the franchise QB has gotten a year under his belt before going after a RB in the draft. The team's current stable of RBs is enough to tide them over.
