Can get a DUI and that disappears from the media faster than Shaun Alexander after 30 but what the crap, take a hit from a bong and the world is ended.
What the hell is wrong with this media driven country?
On a random note, I notice Kelloggs dumped him over this and not over the DUI Way to be consistent moral companies. _________________ "It's a money party, one giant money party" -Joe Scarborough

| One way of looking at it is that there is no connection to morality, excepting the morality of the consumer. Kellogg simply recognizes that Phelps' impact on sales is more likely to be negative than positive now where in 2004 he still had his best competitive years ahead of him and would likely have more positive impact on sales than negative. |

Yeah Dave, you're probably right. I just don't understand why one is so much worse than the other. I mean the DUI did just drop off the media radar.
Just to be clear I am not a legalize pot type of guy.
I also hope this makes Phelps shape up or find another means to decompress and relax. He's a young stupid kid and luckily this wasn't something worse. _________________ "It's a money party, one giant money party" -Joe Scarborough

I understand the move by Kelloggs because like Dave said it has the potential to hurt business more then help. The real joke out of this whole thing is US Swim team suspending for 3 months when there are no major competitions or anything like that. It would be the equivalent of the NFL suspending Leroy Hill next week when there is nothing going on.
I personally don't think a 23 year old smoking weed at a College party is the end of the world, but if I were the owner of one of these companies I would have to let him go especially companies like Kelloggs. On the bright side maybe he has future representing White Castle, Billabong and Doritos. _________________ Washington is dangerously positioned between two Canadas, Canada Canada and California's Canada, Oregon. -Stephen Colbert |

They needed to pretend like they were disciplining one of their own when the reality is, they need Phelps to swim in what competitions they do have upcoming to generate revenue. If something legitimate was going on, they would have found their way around it. It's not like the PGA Tour would suspend Tiger for the US Open if a similar picture of him surfaced.
Hasn't Kelloggs ever heard of the phrase "there's no such thing as bad publicity?" All Phelps can do is say "I'm sorry" and swallow it, though. |
